About

Hello, there!

Thank you for visiting the official website of Traditional Christian Dialogue (TCD)! Our mission at TCD is to create a productive, intellectually stimulating, spiritually nourishing, and mutually beneficial conversation between Traditional Christians (TCs) and people of other religious and philosophical backgrounds (including non-mainstream Christian sects, non-Christian religions, or no religion at all). To clarify, we define TCs as those belonging to Christian denominations which affirm the Nicene Creed, (including Roman Catholicism, most branches of Protestantism, Eastern Orthodoxy, and other Nicene churches). Non-mainstream Christian sects are ones who reject the Nicene Creed, including the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (previously known as “Mormons”), Jehovah’s Witnesses, and Oneness Pentecostals. Regardless of who you are, TCD welcomes you to join our community and offers resources suited for you.

In Christ,

Brennon and Connor.

_______________

Brennon and Connor are passionate followers of Jesus. They desire more people to thoughtfully, respectfully, and truthfully share the hope that is found in Jesus Christ with people around them. Whether that be family, friends, or missionaries on their doorstep, they hope that these guidelines and resources prepare people to not be fearful or confused, but confident and loving.

Who We Are

Brennon (pictured left) enjoys philosophy and theology, listens to rap and pirate metal, and will take on any escape room.

Connor (pictured right) enjoys creating music, swing dancing, and trying the best food.

Mission & Values

PROBLEM: Unprepared

Traditional Christians are often unprepared to give reasons for the hope that they have in Jesus Christ (1 Peter 3:15), regarding both what to say and how to say it.

VISION:

For the Unknown God to be known by all. (Acts 17:22-31)

MISSION:

Prepare all traditional Christians to confidently and effectively defend their convictions with sound reason and a winsome demeanor, every time an opportunity presents itself.

HOW:

We supply apologetic resources, dialogue training, and a support network to both strengthen one’s own faith, and their ability to share that faith with others.

VALUES:

  • Love

  • Gentleness

  • Be Present and Prepared: don’t be distracted

  • Respect Others

  • Convicted Civility: speak the truth in love, gentleness and respect. No Contention, winning hearts not debates, seeing people as people not a competition.

  • Holy Envy/Turn to Wonder: Try and appreciate it and see things from the other side

  • No Fixing, Saving, No Setting Other People Straight

  • Trust and Learn from Silence

  • Observe Confidentiality

  • Punctuality

Statement of Faith

TC dialogue does not identify with a specific Christian denomination or school of thought.

Our Lord and Savior prayed for his followers to be one just as the Triune God is one (John 17:30-23); therefore, TCD seeks to foster this unity among believers which Christ prayed for by equipping and training them to defend what C.S. Lewis called “Mere Christianity”, as defined by the Nicene Creed, instead of any specific denomination.

The Nicene Creed

I believe in one God,

the Father almighty,

maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary,
and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,
he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.

I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come. Amen.
