Dialogue with Latter-day Saints

Dear Latter-day Saint friends,

We commend your faith community for the exceptional piety, strong family values, and loving kindness that it is known for. We would like to extend our special regards to the elder and sister missionaries who leave their homes, families, careers, and education plans behind for eighteen months or two years of non-stop ministry. Embarking on your mission right out of high school speaks volumes about your devotion.

Despite the many virtues the LDS community is known for, affiliation with the faith is often accompanied by social stigma and even scorn. Rest assured, you will not find such treatment within the pages of this pamphlet and the resources we provide. (See “Dialogue Guidelines” online or printed as available) We invite you into a conversation about the life and teachings of Jesus Christ and to consider a life of freedom and truth found in following the Triune God.

We have constructed this pamphlet to present LDS theology accurately and charitably, share our reasons for respectfully disagreeing with it, and present Traditional Christian (TC) theology. While it is certainly not easy, we pray that you will have the intellectual courage and integrity to read and consider this pamphlet with an open mind and heart. Whatever your thoughts are after reading this, we hope you can walk away with a deeper understanding of the beliefs of your TC neighbors.

In Christ,

-Brennon and Connor
